How I am using AI
I wanted a team tool to see how well my team understands the DNA of obedience based, discovery focused replicative disciple making (what I mean when I use the acronym DMM).
I could just asked them, and they would say yes. But how do I really know if they think DNA not just answer DNA.
So I decided to use the new Study and Learn mode of Chapter GPT (apologies to my French speakers, I get the humor!)
My first prompt: I want to use the Study and Learn mode (no button on iOS app for this you have to tell it).
I am learning to be a practitioner of New generation’s style DMM (obedience focused, discovery based, replicative disciple making). Develop a learning experience using mastery learning methodology to develop an assessment of my thinking.
Here is what I got (the response was huge so I am just providing the my response to the first question and my interaction):
Section A: Concept Check (Mastery Mode)
Q1. What is the main goal of a Discovery Bible Study (DBS) in New Generations’ approach?
A) To teach biblical information from a leader
B) To help people obey and share what they discover
C) To explain theological doctrine in detail
D) To prepare people for baptism
What’s your answer? D
Not quite — “prepare people for baptism” can happen in a DBS, but it’s not the main goal in the New Generations approach.
Here’s a hint:
In NG’s DMM framework, the purpose of a DBS isn’t just informational or event-preparation.
It’s designed to get people to act on what they read and to pass it on to others immediately — even before they’re baptized.
Given that, which option best fits?
A) To teach biblical information from a leader
B) To help people obey and share what they discover
C) To explain theological doctrine in detail
D) To prepare people for baptism
And it continue through more choices until I get the right one. It includes acenarios that I have to make judgements on and even does a mock DBS with me asking the questions to see how I facilitate.
Again, the Study and Learn mode of ChatGPT.
The point is not that the team gets the questions right, the point is that your team is discussing the appropriate practice of the DNA and gaining ever deeper understanding of their personal thinking and how it squares with replicative gospel DNA.
